History of the beach
At first, the name of the beach may be scary, after all, why is Praia dos Ossos called that?
During the years 1730 and 1816, the beach was used as a deposit for the bones of whales that were hunted nearby.
Although the activity has not taken place for many years and the bones are no longer found there, the name remained, as did the traditional fishing colony, which has survived the centuries and is still present in this corner of history and beautiful landscapes.
Is Praia dos Ossos suitable for swimming?
It is common for guests to wonder whether the beach is suitable for swimming, but rest assured, it is completely suitable.
Many locals use the beach waters to cool off and take part in water activities. However, this question arises mainly due to the number of boats present in the waters.
The boats use the beach only as a means of anchoring, due to the Yacht Club located on its left corner and the aforementioned fishing colony, which does not harm the quality of the water.
